“This past school year our paths met, and I believe it was not by chance but by a Providential working of Divine and Supernatural wisdom of which only each of our testimonies could tell. My testimony at DSHN began with a journey to seek solutions, a diagnosis for chronic pain that resulted from a traumatic medical emergency. My life changed the day that I met my Nutritionist, now a dear friend and mentor, Carolyn from the Energy Shack whose dietary recommendations and counsel were a game-changer for me. Being encouraged to take my health into my own hands, I prayerfully sought guidance and was inspired almost a year later to stop in to say hello. That was when I saw the advertisement for DSHN. I inquired and Carolyn told me about the school and her training through that program. Determined to find complete healing, I later called DSHN and spoke to Sandy who answered all my questions and offered a prayer that melted my heart and reminded me of how much God cares and could take a broken person like me who had suffered for so long and now USE ME to help others, turning my life into a testimony. Seeing an open door and an answer to my prayers, I enrolled in the Nutritionist Program in 2021 and here I am today – a living testimony of how God can restore, empower, and set us at liberty to attain new heights. So, it is with a newfound confidence and purpose-driven life, that I stand before you today to assure you that not only I but WE can do all things through Christ who strengthens us!”

Attending Durham School of Health and Nutrition was a rewarding experience. The knowledge of how to naturally care for yourself and loved ones is much needed, especially now, in these days. I am now able to take better control of my health and be of greater assistance to those around me suffering from lifestyle related and other diseases. The staff and teachers are knowledgeable and kind, seeking the best for the students attending the school. I also appreciate that this school adheres to Biblical Christian values. My hope is to continue growing in the field of health and nutrition, using the wholistic and effective approaches that were taught at Durham School of Health and Nutrition.

Type-2 Diabetes and High Cholesterol

In July 2017 my friend invited me to attend a benefit dinner hosted by Durham School of Health and Nutrition, where I learned that eating plant-based foods can actually rid the body of diseases.

This news sparked a drive in me to change my diet in an effort to regain my health. The testimonies were so powerful that I knew I had to try it for myself. We met a lady who was no longer in need of her lupus medication, and another who was off her sickle cell meds. They were telling us that heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, allergies, high cholesterol, diabetes, and even stage 4 cancer can be reversed by nutrition!

I have type-2 diabetes, high cholesterol, and an intense, ongoing pain from inflammation of my right shoulder. Just two weeks after eliminating meat, dairy, and eggs, (all of which I love), the pain in my shoulder was no more. I didn’t need the anti-inflammatory pills I had recently been prescribed. I had my blood work done 5 weeks in and my fasting glucose was just 5.8 (almost normal), significantly down from 19.4 a month earlier. My HbA1C decreased from 14.0 to 8.2 and my LDL cholesterol dropped from 6.07 to 4.08 after 5 weeks on my new plant-based diet.

I never thought I’d say this but I plan to be medication free before the year is over. The proof is in the numbers and in how I feel – much more energetic and able to focus. Who knew animal products contributed to the “brain fog” I often felt, and so many diseases. I accepted the idea that for most of us once we hit our 40’s, it’s “all downhill from here” health-wise.  I eagerly wanted to know more about nutrition and in August I enrolled at Durham School of Health and Nutrition, changing the course of my health, my career, and the lives of many around me. I now endeavour to pay it forward by helping and educating my family, friends, and future clients as a Certified Natural Nutritionist.
